In one of the most successful fire operations in recent times, fire officials have rescued 84 people from Mumbai’s MTNL building. The state-run telecom company, which has its office in the building, has not reported any person missing to the authorities. The search operation is still on.
A huge fire broke out in a multi-storey building in Mumbai’s Bandra West area on Monday afternoon, trapping dozens of people on the terrace. Aleast 14 fire engines were at the spot to douse what firemen call a “level-four” fire.
Fire officials were seen using cranes to reach people trapped on the upper floors of the nine-storey building. A new robot van was also used to put out the fire, which had apparently affected the third and the fourth floor the most.
It is not known yet what caused the fire. As of now, there are no reports of anyone getting hurt in the incident.
