Under the National Scholarship Overseas Programme, the state government of Maharashtra have declared the scholarships for Foreign Education for the Scheduled Caste, denotified nomadic and semi-nomadic tribal students. Under this scheme, 30% of seats are reserved for women category. The aim behind providing the scholarship is to provide quality education to the scheduled caste students.
What will the Scholarship cover?
The Scholarship covers the cost of fees etc. and other educational expenses including maintenance, allowance, and travel expenses etc. for various courses in the specified field of study at Masters and Ph. D level only.
Which fields of studies are available?
Engineering and Management (32 seats), Pure Sciences and Applied Sciences (17 seats), Agricultural Sciences and Medicine (17 seats), International Commerce, Accounting and Finance (17 seats), Humanities and Social Science (17 seats).
The first criteria for eligibility is the student must be from Scheduled Caste.
For PhD – Students must have scored 55% marks or equivalent grade in relevant Master’s Degree.
For Master’s Degree: – Students must have 55% marks or equivalent grade in relevant Bachelor’s Degree.
For Masters: age must be below 35 (Thirty-Five) years.
For PhD: age must be below 40 (Forty) Years.
Total family income from all sources shall not exceed Rs. 6, 00,000 (Rs. Six lakhs per annum). But students who have got the admission in Top 100 universities in the world or in the LONDON SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS do not have the restrictions of the annual income limit.
What is the Duration of the Courses?
For Masters: 3 (Three) Years.
For PhD: 4 (Four) Years.
What is the financial assistance provided under the scheme?
- For the United States of America and other countries except for the United Kingdom
The annual allowance of US Dollars 15400/- (Fifteen Thousand Four Hundred) has been prescribed for all levels of courses covered under the Scheme.
- Only for the United Kingdom
The annual allowance of 9900/- (Nine Thousand Nine Hundred) Great Britain Pound (GBP) has been prescribed.
What are the other services provided?
Under this scheme, the students will be covered with Health Insurance, Visa fees, Other fees, Local Travelling fees. As incidental allowances students in the USA and other countries will be provided with 1,500 US dollars whereas students studying in the UK will be provided with 1,100 Great Britain Pound (GBP) which includes costs of books, research and study tours.
