The Anti Terrorism Squad ( ATS) raided the house of a Sanathan Organisation member and seized Crude bombs and raw materials.
ATS raided the house of Vaibhav Raut, Sanathan Member- Hindu group, residing at Bandarali village, Nalasopara West. Around eight crude bombs and raw materials have been siezed through his residence and his office near his residence. Raut is said to be an Hindu activist and actively worked for the protection of cows with many organisations.
“Vaibhav Raut is daring cow-protector (Gou-Rakshak) and was active through an organisation dedicated to the protection of cows, ‘Hindu Govansh Raksha Samiti’.” said Sunil Ghanvat
, State Organiser, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Maharashtra.
“We want to know source of these explosives and how Raut intended to use them and therefore his custodial interrogation is necessary.” said an officer
Two others have been arrested, Sharad Kalaskar (25) from Pune and Sudhanva Gondhlekar (39) from Palghar and raids are currently underway in Pune and Aurangabad. All the three arrested accused were brought before the sessions court before being remanded to police custody till August 18. The seized explosives have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory to ascertain its nature.
“The seizure of explosives from Raut’s residence was “proof” that the Sanatan Sanstha was involved in “terror activities.” said Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) spokesperson Nawab Malik .
“The explosives were meant to be set off at religious places with a design to trigger communal riots.” said Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
Sanathan Sanstha was formed in the year 1999 in Goa. The headquarters of the organization is in Fonda, Goa. The organization was formed to inculcate Hindu values in the minds of the Hindu people. ‘Sanathan Prabhat’ is the newspaper of Sanathan Sansthan and is been published in the country. ‘Shri Shankara’ is an TV channel operated by the organization. More than 65 books in different languages have been published by the Sanathan Sanstha.
