Indian Railways have structured the cut off in ticket prices of some trains, Railways have sent the draft to Railway Minister for final approval of dilution of the flexi-fare scheme which was introduced in the year 2016.
“The Railway Board has sent the final recommendations on a Flexi-fare scheme to the minister, a final clearance is now awaited.” said a Railway official
“There are more than hundred trains on which the flexi-fare scheme is applicable. The recommendations that have gone to the Railway Minister suggest that scheme is removed from some trains, while on others some modifications are made,” he added.
This scheme will be removed from 40 trains whereas scheme will be diluted in around 102 trains, this will give a huge relief to the Railway passengers.
Recently CAG even slammed the Railways for its scheme as travelers opted for airlines as the rates comparatively were cheaper than the rail rates. Commuters even shifted to Mail/Express trains rather than Flexi-fare scheme treated trains.
CAG had recommended the Railways to implement scheme only at seasonal sessions rather than the entire season.
No doubt Railways have generated huge profit from the scheme, however gradually the trains relevantly running with Flexi-fare scheme started running with less occupancy.
Railways decision of diluting the scheme which will cut off the ticket prices and will be a huge relief for the passengers.
