In view of the completion of two years for the Maratha reservation agitation, the Maratha Kranti Morcha has called for Maharashtra Bandh on 9th August. However, the protesters have announced that only Sit-In Protest Thhiya Andolan will be held at four places in Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai and Parli, where the earlier protest turned violent.
An important meeting was held between Maratha protesters and Thane police regarding the Maharashtra bandh. It was decided to exclude Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai and Parli from Maharashtra Bandh. It has been decided to exclude all four cities from the shutdown and only Thhiya Andolan will be conducted in these four places.
Meanwhile, agitations have been going on for the Maratha reservation since the last 21 days in the state. During this time there was a violent turn of the agitation in many places. Therefore, a large police force will be kept in the state as a precaution for tomorrow’s shutdown. Additional police forces have been deployed to Solapur, Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Aurangabad, Latur and Raigad.
Meanwhile, Praveen Gaikwad of Sambhaji Brigade appealed to perform a peaceful Maharashtra bandh.
“There will be no violence during the agitation, but during the agitation, we won’t co-operate with the government,” Gaikwad said.
Sakal Maratha Samaj has appealed to the people on the occasion of Maharashtra bandh that not to believe on the rumours of protest to be held in Thane, Navi Mumbai, Parli and Mumbai.
